Following are examples of some of the
projects that Wells I & E has been successfully involved in, and for
which the range of services listed above have been provided:
Stratford Peaker Power Station
Wells I & E supplied all of the labour, including I & E Supervision,
required for the instrumentation and electrical installation during the
construction of the Stratford Peaker Power Station in Stratford, Taranaki.
This was a 12 month 50,000 man-hour project to complete all of the
electrical & instrumentation works associated with the installation of
two 100 MW gas turbine units which are designed for fast start and high
efficiency, enabling them to respond to variations in output from wind
and hydro plants. At the peak of construction Wells I & E had 90 people
on the site.
Kupe Production Station
Wells I & E supplied bulk of the labour required by Corke-Wells I & E Limited
for the instrumentation and electrical installation during the construction
of the Kupe Production Station in Manaia, Taranaki. This was an 18 month
200,000 man-hour project.
Contact Energy – New Plymouth
Power Station Oil and Gas Upgrade
Electrical and Instrumentation contract for the upgrade of the New Plymouth
Power Station to run on Oil and/or Gas. Total 10,000 hours over 4 months.
Fletcher Engineering – STOS -
Pohokura Production Station
Electrical and Instrumentation installation contract for the new Pohokura
gas production station in Taranaki. Total 36,000 hours over 10 months.
BHP Power Limited 33kV Kiln
Co-generation project
Electrical installation contract at Glenbrook Steel Mill. Totalling 12,000
hours over a 4 month period.
Shell Todd Oil Services
In 1993 Wells I & E commenced providing the full Instrumentation and Electrical
Contract requirements of the C444 Multi Disciplined Contract for three Offshore
Production Facilities (Including STOS’s FPSO) and three Onshore Sites. The
Instrumentation and Electrical requirements of this Contract equate to
approximately 70,000 hours per year. The total facilities have grown to three
offshore and five onshore.
Taranaki Rugby Football Union
Civil and Electrical Design, Supply, Installation and Commissioning for the
Rugby Park Sports facility floodlighting. Works included new substation,
switch room & switch gear, concrete foundations, steel pole fabrication,
installation and connection of pole floodlights and associated control
cabinets & cabling, new perimeter floodlighting and electrical service
boxes for hospitality tents/providers, aiming/angling of floodlights and
illumination tests. Totalling 22,000 hours over a period of 7 weeks (for
this installation the company was awarded the “Electrical Industry Supreme
Excellence Award”).
Tauranga District Council,
New Zealand
Electrical Design and Instrumentation associated with hazardous area. Upgrade
for the wastewater treatment plant, compliance received via “ex” equipment
installations, gas detection and electrical isolation as well as building
pressurization. Totalling 2,500 hours over a period of 2 months.
Transfield Worley, New Zealand
Instrument and Electrical Contract associated with new DCS System Instrumentation
including Radio Links for Shell Todd Oil Services including Kapuni Production
Station and surrounding well sites. Totalling 5,500 hours over a period of 8 months.
Whittaker Civil Engineering –
NZ refinery Upgrade
Supply of labour and resources for the Electrical and Instrumentation Electrical
work for the NZ refinery Upgrade. Total 10,000 hours over 11 months.
BHP, Nagoya, Japan
Commissioning assistance on a Floating Oil Production Facility at Nagoya -
Japan and in Singapore
Swift Energy - Rimu Production station
Electrical and Instrumentation contract for a major new gas production station.
Total 18,000 hours over 5 months
Foster Construction, New Zealand
Electrical installation work on new blast freezer and packing room at Inghams
chicken complex. Work included new switch boards, mains power, lighting and heat trace.
Shell Todd Oil Services
Instrument and Electrical installation including 11kv expansion associated with
the Naphtha production facility.
Rolls Royce, Kinleith, New Zealand
Instrument and Electrical contract associated with Wood Fired Boiler Hold 11 MW,
and steam Turbine for Carter Holt Harvey. Totalling 11,000 hours over a period of 5 months
Fonterra Lactose, New Zealand
Revamp Instrumentation and associated PLC and electrical work in dry process /
crystallising / CIP water treatment and install MCCD at Lactose plant – Kaponga.
New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company
11kV Distribution Switchgear ring main and transformer installation at Waitoa
Milk Powder factory. Evaporative dryer project with STORK at the Te Awamutu dairy factory
Independent Technology Limited, New Zealand
Instrumentation and Electrical installation associated with LPG bullet
de-commissioning and new metering facility at Kapuni Gas Treatment Plant.
Rotorua District Council Lakefront Reserve
Installation of complete Electrical Distribution System for the City Lakefront Reserve.
New Plymouth District Council
Control Room, Milliscreen Plant and Pump Station Installation for Waitara Treatment Plant.
TSB Bank Festival of Lights Pukekura Park, New Plymouth
