WORKING AT HEIGHT
PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST A FALL WHEN WORKING AT HEIGHT
ASSESS EACH TASK AND CONSIDER THE RISK OF WORKING AT HEIGHT.
For heights over 3m some form of physical control must be used regardless of potential for serious injury.
For heights less than 3m the hazards must be assessed and controls applied as necessary, serious injury can occur from falling only half a metre.
Notify WorkSafe if people could fall 5m.
Complete a job safety analysis for your tasks.
Consider fall protection if working off a ladder.
Check that ladder or platform is in good condition, has a current inspection sticker and is suitable for the task.
Check that ground surface is even and stable for ladder or steps.
Be aware of what fall protection equipment to use, how to use it, and use it when applicable.
Always tie-off at height when outside a protective environment.
Have a rescue plan in place in case of a fall.
